“Breast Cancer Saved My Life!”
Rewind? Did you say breast cancer SAVED your life? This was not what I expected to hear during my initial consultation with a woman in her 50’s here to discuss breast reconstruction after undergoing 6 months of chemotherapy, mastectomy and radiation therapy. Yet it is becoming more and more frequent to see breast cancer survivors seeking breast reconstruction with a sense of empowerment and achievement. After all, they did beat breast cancer. How many of us can say that?Â
With so many patients who have experienced cancer, this woman sounded more like a preacher or guest on Oprah who couldn’t stop talking about how her diagnosis had been a much needed wake-up call to prioritize things in her life. Seeing the glow of wholeness restored in each of these brave warriors when I remove the bandages to unveil their new breasts is among the best feelings in the world. In tribute to all the women currently undergoing or in remission from breast cancer treatment, the staff at Norris Plastic Surgery salute you.   To be a part of your journey to wholeness is a priviledge and is an inspiration to all of us to wake up and live with purpose and joy.Â
To your wellness, Dr. Norris
